Zea Monthly Recap: August 2026

|

August took us all the way to Sydney and back home to Tasmania, and it finished with a new product made for your evenings. Here's what happened, and why each of it mattered to us.

August at a glance

  • We joined the Global Impact Summit in Sydney as Official Speaker Wellness Partner.
  • We launched the Sleep Support Roll On, our first product built specifically for bedtime.
  • We marked five years as a member of Sustainability Tracker.
  • Hayden got back to Flinders Island to see the Kunzea for himself.

We Were Part of the Global Impact Summit

This month we joined the Global Impact Summit in Sydney as Official Speaker Wellness Partner, and as a Community and Ecosystem Partner, caring for the people working hard to make a difference.

The brief was a simple one. A summit is a long day of standing, talking and thinking, and the people doing that work all day deserve to feel looked after while they do it. So we set up a stand, brought the range, and made sure anybody who needed a bit of relief could get it. Kenny the Kunzea Koala came along too, and was, as usual, more popular than any of us.

It was a nice reminder of what we try to do every day as a family-owned, Certified B Corporation: work with native Australian botanicals, source them the right way, and give one percent of every sale back through our 1% for the Planet membership.

Standing in a room alongside organisations doing serious work on climate, community and equity is a useful check. Plenty of businesses talk about impact. Spending a day with people who actually measure theirs is a good way to keep yourself honest.

We Launched the Sleep Support Roll On

This month we introduced our Sleep Support Roll On. It's a gentle blend of Kunzea, magnesium, lavender and chamomile, made to support relaxation and restful sleep.

It's the first thing we've made specifically for the end of the day rather than for pain. The aroma is light and floral rather than medicinal, which matters more than it sounds. If a bedtime product smells like a chemist, it tends to sit in the drawer unused, and this one doesn't. The roll on format means it goes on wrists, temples or the back of the neck without a fuss, and without needing to wash your hands afterwards.

It went to the waitlist first, and the response was quick enough that we knew we had read the demand correctly. If you want the detail on how to work it into an evening routine, we wrote it up separately in Sleep Support Roll On: A Natural Addition to Your Bedtime Routine.

Five Years With Sustainability Tracker

August also marked Zea's fifth year as a member of Sustainability Tracker, a world-first platform that brings a brand's sustainability information, initiatives, certifications and evidence together in one place.

The reason we rate it is that it doesn't accept claims on trust. Anybody can say they're sustainable. The platform asks for the evidence behind each claim and publishes it where customers can read it themselves, which is a much harder standard than a logo on a label.

Five years on, we're proud to wear the member badge, and even prouder of what it stands for. Our full profile, claims and supporting evidence are published there for anyone to read.1 You can also read more about how we work on our about page.

Back Down to the Island

It's fantastic to see how much it's grown over the last 10 years as we've been running the business, and seeing it all flourishing so well down on the island.
Hayden Brass, Zea Founder

The Kunzea in every product we make is wild-harvested, not farmed. That means nobody plants it, nobody irrigates it, and nobody can decide to make more of it next season. It grows where it grows, in the scrub of north-east Tasmania and the Bass Strait islands, and the harvest works around the plant rather than the other way round.

Ten years into the business, seeing it thriving out there is the part that doesn't get old. It's also the part that keeps us honest about supply: we can't scale Kunzea on demand, so we plan around what the country can actually give.

If you've ever wondered how it gets from a wild stand of scrub into a bottle, we covered the whole process in How Kunzea Oil Is Grown and Distilled in Tasmania.

This Month's Customer Story

We've been using it for about 18 months now, and we don't buy normal store bought honey anymore.

Leanne's is our favourite kind of review, because it's not really about a single jar. Eighteen months in and supermarket honey has simply stopped being an option in that house.

Our Kunzea Honey is 100% raw and single origin, produced by bees working Kunzea in the same north-east Tasmanian country our oil comes from. It's unheated and unfiltered, which is why it tastes more savoury and resinous than a supermarket clover honey. If you want to understand the differences across our range, Types of Tasmanian Honey lays them out side by side.

What's Coming Next

September brings Father's Day on Sunday 6 September, and Pain Awareness Month. Our Father's Day Gift Guide is live if you're still deciding, and we'll have more to say on pain awareness shortly.

More than anything, August reminded us how lucky we are to have you along for it. Thanks for being part of a month we're genuinely proud of. Browse the best-selling bundles or the full pain relief range, and if you ever want to ask us something directly, get in touch. We read everything.
